Cycle testing step for potassium-ion battery carbon anode material research

Latest updated: Mar 20, 2025
Video recording version: 8.0.0.516, compatible with BTS 8.0 software.

Open the preset cycle test procedure and let the battery rest for 1 hour to stabilize its internal state.

The study is on the anode material of potassium ion batteries, so the batteries are first tested for discharge.

Setting the constant current discharge step.

After selecting the C-rate mode, enter the nominal specific capacity of the material and the mass of the active substance at the bottom of the page.

Then enter the rate, the corresponding current value can be calculated automatically.

You can also not select the C-rate mode, directly input current can be.

The nominal specific capacity of the carbon material studied in this experiment was 279 mAh/g.

Input mass of active material 2mg.

Setting the activation multiplication rate to 0.1.

mall current activation helps to adjust the internal structure of the battery, including the uniform distribution of active substances and the stability of the solid-liquid interface.

It can reduce the polarization phenomenon of the battery during cycling and improve the cycle stability and consistency of the battery.

The embedded potassium potential of the material is between 0.1~1.0V.

So choose the test voltage window of 0.01~2.5 V.

Avoid overcharging/overdischarging of battery materials.

So here the cutoff voltage is set to 0.01V.

Then set the constant current charging step, and again set the multiplication rate to 0.1C.

Cycle start step is 2, cycle number is 10.

Set the cycle rate to 2C and the number of cycles to 5000.

Because of the long cycle life of the material under study, a high number of cycles is set.

You can set the cycle rate (current) and cycle times according to your own needs.

The above demonstration parameters are for reference only, please refer to your own experiments.

After setting the parameters of the work step, just click start.
