Cycle testing step for lithium-ion battery lithium iron phosphate(LiFePO4) cathode

Latest updated: Mar 20, 2025
Video recording version: 8.0.0.516, compatible with BTS 8.0 software.
  • Open the pre-set cyclic test step file.

  • First set aside for 1 hour to stabilize the internal area of the battery.

  • Since the cathode material was studied, the constant current charging work step was set up first.

  • After selecting the C-rate mode, input the theoretical specific capacity of the material and the mass of the active material, and then the current value of constant-current charging and discharging can be calculated automatically.

  • Theoretical specific capacity of lithium iron phosphate is 170 mAh/g, and the mass of input actives is 2mg.

  • Set the activation rate to 0.2C.

  • Charging and discharging with small currents improves the redox activity of the battery during electrochemical processes.

  • Lithium iron phosphate cathode material generally undergoes redox reaction at higher voltage.

  • Therefore, the test voltage window is set at 2.0~4.2V, please refer to the literature and combine with your own experiments.

  • Then set the constant-current discharger step with a multiplier of 0.2C.

  • Set the cycle start step to 2.

  • Because side reactions usually fade away after 10 to 15 cycles and change to an inactive phase.

  • Therefore, the number of cycles is set to 20.

  • Then proceed to set up the constant-current charging and constant-current discharging electrician steps.

  • Set the cycle rate to 20C to study the high rate performance of the battery.

  • The current size of the cycle test setting can be reasonably adjusted based on the rate test results.

  • The purpose of setting the number of cycles at 1000 or more is to study the long cycle life characteristics of lithium iron phosphate cathode materials.

  • You can set the cycle rate (current) and cycle times according to your own needs.

  • The above demonstration parameters are for reference only, please refer to your own experiments.

  • After setting the parameters of the work step, just click start.
